Equal Opportunity Specialist

Provided technical assistance to government agencies, community organizations, and developers participating in HUD programs. Reviewed performance reports and conducted in-depth reviews to ensure compliance with a wide range of civil rights legislation and program requirements. Assisted the Division Director with workload management, quality control, and budget and travel issues. Cited as "the primary computer applications and programming resource for both the Programs and the Compliance Divisions." Served as Division level DBM, and field office consultant to the HUD Central Office as needed. Trained and supported office staff in computer applications.

  • Developed original static and animated artwork and photo graphics for equipment deptictions, concept clarification, and process flow explanation

  • Adapted hard copy course materials to PowerPoint for classroom presentations

  • Produced video clips for classroom and CD presentations

HUD

  • Pioneered numerous analytical database and spreadsheet tools, reports, and document formats which automated and standardized office procedures.

  • Set-up weekly computerized workload accounting system for tracking the status of all work orders in the office, including projected workloads for each specialist.

  • Selected to conduct equal opportunity reviews based on demonstrated computer and programmatic expertise. Analyzed the racial composition of projects for various housing authorities and developed a classification system, associated maps, and a historical database of over 1,000 sites in Chicago to ensure compliance with fair housing legislation.

  • Developed review recommendations that established national precedents in the areas of fair housing and open housing issues.

  • Designed and produced a variety of desktop publishing items, from charts, graphs, and flyers, to reports and handbooks, as well as recreations of Federal Register and Regulation publications.

  • Served as Acting Division Director on numerous occasions. Represented the Division and Office Director at Regional Office staff meetings for special assignment topics.

  • Fair housing efforts resulted in numerous changes in procedures and practices and promoted open housing policies.
